Bodegas Perica is the product of wine elaboration and viticultural activity initiated by the ancestors of its current owner David García, a.k.a. ‘Perica’, a nickname he inherited from his grandfather.
The bodega is situated on the outskirts of the Cerrillo Velvalle, which is home to the oldest family-run bodegas in San Asensio and is where, since the beginning of the 20th Century, successive crops have grown. Initially the wine was only for family consumption or bulk sale, but in the 1950s, the ‘Crianza’ (ageing) process in barrels and bottles began and the wine became destined for the open market.
Bodegas Perica has subscribed to the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja (the regulation body for Riojan AOC) since 1955. This is evident throughout every process, from the vines to the table, with proven experience and Perica’s personal touch, combining simple tradition and endless devotion.
As a result, our bodega is proud to be a family winery stamped with Riojan character.
